Are you living in your Dream House?

If you follow me, you know that I enjoy asking people about their favorite room. I’ve heard every kind of answer and I've heard every kind of reason.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about dream houses. For most people dream house means big house, but I think that a dream house can be a small or moderate house with a lot of favorite rooms.

A dream kitchen, for example, doesn’t need two ovens and a long island with built-in double sinks, and a walk-in pantry (okay, that’s my wife’s dream kitchen). I think that a dream kitchen can be one that you love because that is where the family gathers, or because you built it with your own hands, or designed it with your own mind, or picked out the appliance– whatever the reason, my point is that a dream kitchen or dream house doesn’t have to be BIG.

Maybe you have a small house, GREAT! What if you made every room a favorite room? Would your small or moderate sized house be a dream house if every room was your favorite?

How’d you feel if your home had an exterior makeover? A fresh coat of paint or a whole new design including widows?

When I was growing up, my mom would take all new guests on a house tour. I’m not sure if the house was her “dream house,” but I know that she was proud of it and she definitely had a few favorite rooms.

My favorite thing about my job is helping homeowners inch progressively towards their dream.
